Trends!

The lates trend is "I don't give a flying fudge-knuckle" where the premise of it is to do whatever the flying fudge-knuckle commands you to do. The flying fudge-knuckle is a deity, a higher being, that has origins unknown to man, even with the amount of data we have gathered or the substantial technical advancements we have managed to make in the recent years. The flying fudge-knuckle is kind of a trendsetter that can create and discard trends, the latest trend set by him being the sudden craze of lightly fried fish filet. It surely baffles scientists and psychologists alike; it's intriguing but we have no idea what it is but it has an extreme influence on people's cravings and preferences, it kind of manipulates crowd control with psychological tools that no psychologist can even imagine (it knows people's mentality better than the people themselves). I usually don't follow the trends set by him/her, but what I know is the fact that lightly fried fish filet are not only popular in a culinary sense because this food is printed on clothing, we have furnitures molded like filet of fried fish and snacks with the taste of lightly fried fish filet have been distributed around all markets around the colony.

It's a universal craze that hits every aspect of the regular life. This happens annually, so the trends die fast and get replaced by new ones created by the holy fudge-knuckle, which kind of leads to a major, but temporary, dent in the economy because many products stay untouched or get discarded from the shelves, and have to be incinerated. I think that this is not the best thing for the people's economy (even though it means huge profit for the colony's economy due to the amount of tax being collected from these products), and that it's stupid over-commercialized phenomenon; a pot of gold for  unwanted corporations. Sadly I cannot control this, we're not a communism, but I guess it's not as devastating as I may put it, I mean the original Earth is thriving really well and their market is filled with evil corporations and naive consumers!

Now the emphasis is put on the music. Yes, lightly fried fish filet is a food, so the trend had to impact the food industry the most, which is partly true; candy bars have been made with the taste, food corporations on our planet have partnered up with Coca-Cola and Tyson Foods to create fish flavoured beverages and mass produce lightly fried fish filet in powder form, optimized for food printers (created by me, but I gave away the patent to Zan Inc which partnered up with Tyson Foods).  Though the fact that it heavily influenced the food industry greatly, It still had more impact on the music industry, increasing sales by 327% in three months, in which almost 97% of the songs are based on fish. Yes, on fish.

So the algorithm of trend setting is very different from that of Earth's, we both have trends set by celebrities or people of higher status than the average inhabitant (trends can also just get viral on the internet on Earth, which is a minor difference) but it's not a random trivial occurrence here, like on earth, it's more of an annual tradition, which to some can be pretty monotone but I digress.

Now that you know a little about what current trend we have on our planet, and a little about the nature of trends here, now I'm interested in your opinion! What trend are you guys following down on Earth? Let me know by answering the survey to the right!
